Choosing the Right Wellington

The key factors in choosing a country sports wellington are warmth, fit and sole grip. For driven shooting, where long periods are spent standing in cold conditions, an insulated wellington is worth the investment. For more active use, a lighter uninsulated boot keeps feet cooler and is more comfortable over distance. Fit is more important than many buyers anticipate: a wellington that is too wide allows the foot to move within the boot, causing blisters and reducing control on rough ground. Many brands now offer slim and standard fit options to address this.
