Tried and Tested: Weatherbeeta Therapy-Tec Rug

The Weatherbeeta Therapy-Tec Fleece is a must have for your horse’s wardrobe!

Not only does this rug help wick moisture away after a ride or (recently, more likely) a rainy day, it also features ceramic fabric technology. This technology helps to prepare your horses muscles for exercise as well as increasing the muscle function, and therefore reducing the risk of injury whilst warming up. What did I think?

Truthfully, my first impression was along the lines of; “this is just a fancy fleece”, “it’s too cheap to have similar effects to a magnetic rug” ...I was wrong!

After my mare, Flo, had to receive treatment for sacroiliac (SI) disease, I was on the lookout for a rug to aid with her recovery. Unfortunately, my purse is not a bottomless pit, and I was on a tight budget – I’m sure you can relate if you own a horse! When I saw we were stocking this rug, I was intrigued, yet a little hesitant due to it being a new product, and there were very few reviews to go on. However, I wanted to give it a shot.

First of all, I now use this rug all the time; before and after exercise, whilst hand walking – the list goes on. The fleece positively wicks any moisture away after riding or lunging, helping Flo to dry off and cool down slowly with the help of the ceramic powder in the fabric. I do find these technologies fascinating to learn about, and how they help your horse’s recovery.

I have already felt the difference in Flo taking less time to warm up and feeling more relaxed through her back. I hope to continue feeling the benefits of this rug in future training sessions and I’m more than sure Flo will too.

Is this rug true to size? What’s the fit like?

I know some rugs can be a nightmare for fitting differently on some horses. However, I would definitely say the rug is true to size. Flo wears a 6ft in all her rugs, and the Therapy-Tec 6ft fits like a glove! One feature regarding the fit of the rug I love, is the touch tape behind the front buckle. It’s an additional feature that helps the rug to stay put, without slipping around or pulling on the shoulders. Weatherbeeta have thought deeply into every aspect of this rug! Even the colour combination makes this fleece smart enough to use at competitions and clinics.

In my opinion, this rug is certainly worth the money, as other rugs with similar benefits and technology are far more expensive. I also believe the other rugs are not has versatile as this product– with being able to use whilst travelling, at shows, before and after exercise due to the fleece fabric. It really is a winner in my eyes; this rug is the complete pre and post workout product for your horse!
