The Ultimate Training Outfit

Everyone loves to find that perfect riding outfit, one that is super comfortable but makes you look and feel like a professional!  This combination looks fantastic in and out of the saddle, functional and flattering, featuring specific technologies to help when you ride.

Let’s start from the top...

The Ariat Auburn Baselayer

New for this summer, this baselayer is the complete package for everyday riding and even looks smart enough for a clinic or demonstration! Some of the clever technology consists of;

  • AriatTek Heat Series Technology – Keeps you cool when the competition heats up.
  • Freeze Point cooling tech - reduces your skin temperature up to 2.8°C!
  • Moisture Movement Tech wicks away from the skin.
  • Fabric finish inhibits the growth of bacterial odours – much needed for any riding tops!
  • Sun Protection Fabric, has a UPF rating of 50+ and provides protection from ultraviolet rays.
  • Perforated panels for breathability

Ariat have bought this in for their Spring/Summer 21 range in some gorgeous colours. We stock, Blue Opal, Peridot, and the lovely Cocoa from this blog.

The Diana Breeches from Mountain Horse

The brand new product range launched this Summer from Mountain Horse; breeches. My favorite being the Diana – a beautiful high waist, full seat breech. Featuring front zipped pockets, double hook loop closure, and decent-sized belt loops.

The fantastic breathable fabric transports moisture and is resistant to dirt and liquid – you can feel the excellent quality as soon as you put these on. The high waist includes a soft logo and elastic waistband, only adding to the rider’s ultimate comfort. The silicone seat with Mountain Horse grip tech paired with the flexible leg cuff ensures you are secure and ready for your ride!

What did I think?

Firstly, I adored the colour of the Auburn! I hadn't seen many products in this shade, so was excited to hear peoples opinions and see how it looks when riding. As suspected, I had a number of compliments in person and even some lovely comments about how flattering the top looked in the photos. The fabric is amazingly soft and feels brilliant to the touch, which is a great quality to have with a product like this. I also loved the branding detail, on the back in between the shoulders as shown in the photos - excellently different and subtle.

I was super excited to be trying these new breeches for the first time! All riders know the importance of comfortable and complimentary breeches, and the Diana's tick every box. I was a little doubtful as I had never tried breeches from Mountain Horse, therefore unsure what to expect, not knowing a product. However, as always they delivered above expectation with a high-quality product at an amazing price! I Love the material, it feels breathable and looks professional, just as described. The High waist is a true high waisted fit and is wonderfully comfortable when riding.

How do they fit?

I would say both items fit true to size. However, the Auburn baselayer is not skin-tight, and I wear a size XS. I'm usually a UK size 8 and do have a bigger bust, and I can safely say I have some length on the arms and around my abdomen. The cut is extremely flattering and super comfortable when riding - enough room for plenty of movement. Perfect for around the yard and riding.

In the Diana breeches, I wear a size 36. Being only 5ft2, I can struggle with legwear, but with the Diana's lovely high waist, they sit perfectly on my hips and experienced no issues with the length. If you're on the taller side, I would say you have nothing to worry about they, will fit perfectly with the help of the technical material and the complimentary cut on the hips and legs. These breeches hug your waist and legs, feeling supported and secure when in the saddle - Not to mention, they look fantastic on. I can confidently say these are some of the best breeches I have worn!

Are they affordable, are they worth the money?

I can undoubtedly say these are 100% worth their money!

The Diana’s are at an amazingly affordable price of £85 – priced competitively for superb quality, high waist, full seat breech. They also come in white, perfect for competing this summer.

The Auburn is a little more than what I would normally spend on a base layer, but now I have tried one, I’m saving for another colour! At £65, you have the complete package in one top; looking elegant and feeling excellent when you ride.
