There’s nothing finer than riding in the early evening as the heat of a dog day in summer begins to fade. Or first thing in the morning, before the heat builds.
After exercise, only a gossamer light cooler is needed to put on your horse’s back. Which one wicks away moisture quickly so that your horse doesn’t get a chill as the evening begins to cool? And is light to wear when the sun is still intense?
First choice has to be the feather-light standard neck Weatherbeeta scrim cooler, which has breathable mesh panels so that sweat dries quickly, while allowing your horse to cool down at a natural rate. It’s a great choice for popping on your horse after a bath or wash-down too, which many animals love on a hot day.
The scrim cooler’s light weight and breathability also make it a superb summer travel sheet option. It has a hidden, adjustable belly surcingle too, which means it’s not only neat, tidy and safe while travelling but looks great when the horse comes off the box at the event, too.
The cooler fastens at the front with a single surcingle style closure. A fillet string passes under the tail to help keep the rug in place too. At the withers there’s a fluffy fleece pad to protect this sensitive place.
Best of all, the scrim cooler represents unbeatable value for an item that you’ll soon find indispensable.
