What is the inspiration behind the Impact Sports Boot?
There are so many things to consider when purchasing horse boots, Equilibrium wanted to offer a boot where you didn't have to compromise at all. Generally, if you go for a hard shell/very protective boot, it can be heavy, inflexible, and unbreathable. Likewise, a lightweight boot might be more breathable and flexible, but won't offer the protection that is needed. The Impact Sports Boots offers protection that is tested to withstand overreaching, hitting a cross country fence, etc, yet still retains all the other desired features to keep your horse comfortable and their legs in good shape!

The boot design uses a five-layer system, each chosen for their unique properties.
The first layer is providing an inner lining that sits against the horses' leg. Made from perforated EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate), the liner sits comfortably against the leg. The perforations allow heat to escape and aids breathability, while the flexibility of the material allows it to mould to the horses' leg.
Layer two is a strong nylon mesh. This adds another layer of protection to the sports boots, but also stops any debris making its way into the boot towards your horses' leg.
Layer three is the internal guard made from vinyl - a string, durable and moisture resistant material. This layer is placed over the vulnerable tendon area and is made with strips of material to allow it to mould around the horses’ leg. This allows the horse to move freely without the feeling of a ‘splint’.
The fourth layer is an EVA waffle. Commonly used in the soles of human shoes and as padding on sports equipment, this material is durable, breathable, and protective! We’ve made sure it's easy to clean and maintain too!
Finally, layer five includes strategically placed vinyl strike guards. On the front boot, these are placed down the vulnerable tendon area, as well as at the front of the boot. On the hind boot, they cover most of the inside of the horses' leg.

Wat is de inspiratie achter de Impact Sports Boot
Er zijn zoveel dingen waar je rekening mee moet houden bij het kopen van paardenbeschermers, dat Equilibrium een beschermer wilde aanbieden waarbij je helemaal geen compromissen hoeft te sluiten. Over het algemeen geldt dat als je kiest voor een beschermer met een harde schaal die veel bescherming biedt, deze zwaar, onbuigzaam en niet ademend kan zijn. Omgekeerd is een lichtgewicht beschermer misschien wel beter ademend en flexibeler, maar biedt deze niet de bescherming die nodig is. De Impact Sports Boots bieden bescherming die getest is om overreiken, het raken van een crosscountry-hindernis enzovoort te weerstaan, maar behouden toch alle andere gewenste eigenschappen om je paard comfortabel te houden en zijn benen in goede conditie te houden!

Het ontwerp van de beschermers maakt gebruik van een vijflaags systeem, waarbij elke laag is gekozen vanwege zijn unieke eigenschappen.
De eerste laag vormt een binnenvoering die direct tegen het paardenbeen aanligt. Deze voering is gemaakt van geperforeerd EVA (ethyleen-vinylacetaat) en ligt comfortabel tegen het been aan. Door de perforaties kan warmte ontsnappen en wordt het ademend vermogen bevorderd, terwijl het materiaal dankzij zijn flexibiliteit zich naar het paardenbeen vormt.
Laag twee bestaat uit een sterk nylon gaas. Dit voegt een extra beschermingslaag toe aan de sportbeschermers, maar voorkomt ook dat vuil in de beschermer terechtkomt en het been van je paard bereikt.
Laag drie is de interne bescherming van vinyl – een stevig, duurzaam en vochtbestendig materiaal. Deze laag wordt over het kwetsbare peesgebied geplaatst en is gemaakt van stroken materiaal, zodat deze zich om het paardenbeen kan vormen. Hierdoor kan het paard zich vrij bewegen zonder het gevoel van een ‘spalk’ te hebben.
De vierde laag bestaat uit een EVA-wafelstructuur. Dit materiaal, dat vaak wordt gebruikt in de zolen van mensenschoenen en als vulling in sportuitrusting, is duurzaam, ademend en beschermend! We hebben er ook voor gezorgd dat het gemakkelijk te reinigen en te onderhouden is!
Ten slotte bestaat laag vijf uit strategisch geplaatste vinyl stootbeschermers. Bij de voorbeugel zijn deze aangebracht langs het kwetsbare peesgebied en aan de voorkant van de beugel. Bij de achterbeugel bedekken ze het grootste deel van de binnenkant van het paardenbeen.
