Looking to buy a body protector for yourself or a member of your family? What do you need in this key piece of safety wear for horse riding?
First and foremost, it’s all about getting the optimum fit that’s right for you or your child. The Airmesh body protector from Airowear is available in a range of sizes, with both regular and slim-fit options available. The company suggests that gender-specific fit provides the best and most effective customised protection.
You also need to know the level of protection offered and the Airmesh rates highly at BETA 2009 Level 3 and CE EN13158:2009.
Next, as the name suggests, it’s a beautifully cool and lightweight piece of equipment thanks to its sporty mesh covering that allows ventilation across your body to keep you cool while riding.
The lightweight shock absorbent foam from which it’s made moulds closely to your body so you don’t feel impeded in any way whether you’re competing, training, or hacking out at home. The foam protects many of your vital organs, part of your skeleton and the soft tissue around your torso in the event of a fall.
With such a light and airy yet high-performing body protector, it’s easy to get into the habit of popping it on every time you ride. Plus, shoulder pads are available to fit the Airmesh as a separate item, for an even higher level of protection.
