Trying out the new Veganza boots from Mountain Horse

Riding boots

Introducing a brand new style of long riding boots - ultimate comfort and leather free!

Mountain Horse has introduced these all-vegan riding boots to the market, and we are loving them! With premium features and classy patent detailing, we believe these boots will make a great option for competing without breaking the bank. These will also make the perfect pair for your everyday riding boots. Becky tries and tests these new boots jumping, hacking, and schooling, and tells us why the Veganza'a should be your next purchase. We hope you'll see why we love these so much.

The Aesthetics

The Veganza boots are manufactured with soft imitation vegan-friendly leather, with elegant patent detailing and subtle branding. I would say these have a similar design on the upper, to that of the Mountain Horse Women's Sovereign High Rider Boots. The stitching detail around the foot adds to the elegance and overall professional finish on these boots.  Like the Sovereigns, they also feature an elasticated lace system at the front, allowing for freedom of movement when your foot is in the stirrup. The overall shape of the boot is just like your usual leather boot, with the tall bow at the side of the leg.

The imitation leather is extremely soft to touch and very smooth, which immediately makes me assume the comfortability of these boots. The majority of imitation leathers you may find the outer material looks a little 'grainy' but I can confirm the Veganza material is super slick and smooth. When I saw these for the first time, it was hard to believe they weren't real leather. I find this material to be more giving and flexible than real leather - this definitely works in your favor, being incredibly comfortable!

Technology and Comfort

These boots are full of comfort-focused technologies - Mountain Horse's primary focus was on rider comfort when it came to the design of these boots.  They feature a moisture-wicking synthetic lining - perfect for the incoming warmer days. The resilient YKK Coil zipper from the heel to the back of your calf/knee creates a secure and reliable fitting. The Diagonally inverted contour gripping tread can be seen in the images of the sole and is quite unique - plus the pop of blue colour looks great!

Mountain Horse uses their own series of technology called 'Vertycore' - basically, the ultimate comfort. The Vertycore multileveled lightweight cushioning polyurethane insole, pressure reducing insole, and full impact reducing heel cavity pad along with the MST (motion stabilisation tech) metal shank are the reasons these boots are especially comfortable. I can safely say, these are the most comfortable long-riding boots I have worn in a long time! The footbed system is similar to that designed for the Aurora family (also from Mountain Horse).

Buying new riding boots is super challenging. I find it most difficult finding new boots that are comfortable from day one of breaking in - the hardest part of a new pair! And these boots were a dream to wear for their first ride.

Sizing

As we all know, finding the right size and fit for long-riding boots is vital, but not always that easy. With the Veganza, I found the foot sizing and calf variations to be very true to size. However, I would say the area around the lacing system does give, and the footbed is a little wider than compared to a boot like the Serenade. Along with the flexibility of the material, they would be ideal for someone with a wider foot/ankle.

I am usually a size UK 4 or EU 37 with a relatively narrow lower leg. In the Veganza I wear a size 37 Regular/Narrow and I'm especially happy with the fit and feel of the boots when riding. To help with sizing, I would say they do size similarly to the Sovereign High Rider Boots. Watch the video below for advice on measuring your leg for the perfect fit:

Overall, I think these boots are the perfect addition to fill a gap in the market, and believe that everyone needs a pair added to their equestrian wardrobe! At an excellent price of £149, these aren't a big investment - an even better reason to try these boots. If you're looking for a new pair of riding boots for competing, for a fast-growing teenager or a 'chuck-on' everyday pair, these are perfect for you!
